Schedules
CLC is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an after school program for our preschool aged children from 3:30 to 5:30p.m.
Parents can choose from two different enrollment schedules:
8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Beginning in 2026-27 — Afterschool, 2-5 year olds: 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
Three, four, and five day programs are available.
Our Day
At CLC, all of our three classrooms follow a similar schedule, as follows:
8:30-9am: Drop Off. After our initial phase-in period, we say bye-bye at the gate to families, and begin the day as a full school exploring the Outdoor classroom (weather permitting).
9am: Morning Meeting. Children review the business of the day: who is here, how many friends are here, what our schedule is, and for older children, what’s coming up in the calendar.
9:15-10:00: Work Time. Children explore and make meaning using a wide variety of materials.
10am: Clean Up Time. Children work together to pick up the space and take care of materials.
10:15: Circle Time. Children gather as a group to delve into the concepts behind curriculum.
10:30: Snack. Snack is provided by families on a rotating basis, so each family has a “snack week” a couple of times a year.
11am: Outdoor time. We are so fortunate to be located in Morningside Gardens, where we have our very own private outdoor space on our school grounds, and are just a stone’s throw from a playground inside the Gardens where we go each day.
12/12:30: Lunch. Families provide lunch each day. Classrooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.
1pm: Rest Time. Children across our classrooms all rest at 1pm on cots or bassinets, dressed with cozy sheets and comfort items from home.
3:30: Dismissal.
2026-27 — 3:30-5:30: After School for preschool aged children
Hootenannies: On Fridays, we begin our day with a full school singalong, featuring the CLC Family Band! The classrooms are open from 8:30-9am, and we welcome families to come in, chat with teachers and other parents, and explore materials with your child. At 9am, we gather to sing rollocking array of tunes: at CLC, we like to say that we “go a little beyond Wheels on the Bus,” exploring everything from Dolly Parton to Prince to Radiohead.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2020-21, CLC redesigned our program to be entirely outdoors, creating a multi-purpose outdoor classroom, where children can explore, move their bodies, and engage directly with nature each and every day. Today, we use our indoor and outdoor classrooms!
