Blueberry Muffins

This week, Red Roomers gathered as a full class to make something warm and just a little sweet to fill our bellies with as the weather turns crisp outside: blueberry muffins!

Cooking is a meaningful, rich experience for young children — we see how individual ingredients are transformed into something special to enjoy all together, beginning to understand where food comes from and how it’s made. Along the way, children engage with the written word by “reading” large scale recipes, they work with numbers and measurement, they use their full bodies to lift and mix and pour and crack, and they practice taking turns and working together. Cooking is a deeply sensory experience, and what’s more – it’s fun!
