Green Man Cometh

Green Man

by the Red and Purple Roomers

Rolling down the grassy hill,

Watching the flowers rain down.

The Pine tree where he comes from,

Moss and a leaf that smells like lemon.

All the soft green things,

All the nature that Mother Earth gives to us,

All the secrets that Green Man showed me.

On Monday morning CLC shone bright with springtime magic as we welcomed a very special friend to school: Green Man! Perhaps of a dewy morning you too have felt a swell of energy from the Earth, a great enlivening of your natural spirit – this is the force that nourishes Green Man, a sprite of nature, a guardian of our planet. Green Man’s mission is to help us see Earth’s beauty and power, and on Monday, he shared some of Gaia’s secrets with us… please, follow our vernal journey:

Together children and teachers form a great ring, dancing and chanting around a tree - we call Mother Earth to awaken!

Growing up in New York City gives children beautiful access to so many different kinds of people and experiences, but it can be challenging to make nature a priority. We are so grateful that our school is situated amidst such nature, and so thankful to have Green Man to draw our attention to all the sweet splendors of Mother Earth.
